Privacy Policy
The short version: the software runs on your computer and sends us nothing. We never see your videos. The only personal data we hold is what you type into the checkout form.
1. Who we are
ClipSpotter is a desktop application for finding and cutting highlight clips from video files. It is sold by the operator of this website ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, write to support@clipspotter.online.
2. What the software does with your data
Nothing leaves your machine. The application reads video files you select, processes them locally, and writes clips to a folder you choose. It does not require an account, does not connect to any server we operate, and contains no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising code.
You can verify this: run the application with your network connection disabled. Every feature works exactly the same.
The only network activity the software can perform is an optional update check, and only if a future version adds one — if that happens, it will be disclosed in the release notes and can be disabled.
3. What we collect when you buy
Payments are processed by Creem, which acts as our merchant of record. When you buy, Creem collects and processes your payment details, name, email address, billing country and tax information. We never see or store your card number.
We receive from Creem only what is needed to deliver and support your purchase:
- your email address, to send the download link and licence key
- the order reference, amount, currency and date
- your billing country, for tax records
- whether the licence has been activated, and on how many machines
Creem's own privacy notice governs the payment processing itself: creem.io/privacy.
4. Licence activation
To enforce the two-machine limit, the software sends your licence key and a randomly generated installation identifier to Creem's licence API. That identifier is not derived from your hardware, is not a fingerprint, and is not linked to any other data about you. No file names, video content, paths or usage statistics are transmitted.
5. Email and support
If you email us, we keep the message and our reply so we can help you and refer back to it later. We do not add support addresses to any marketing list, and we do not send marketing email at all.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use tracking cookies, pixels or third-party analytics on this website.
- We do not profile you or make automated decisions about you.
7. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract for delivering the software and licence; legal obligation for tax and accounting records; and legitimate interests for responding to support requests and preventing licence abuse.
8. How long we keep data
Order and tax records are kept for as long as tax law requires — typically seven years. Support correspondence is deleted three years after the last message in the thread. Licence activation records are deleted when the licence is retired.
9. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@clipspotter.online and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Deletion requests cannot remove records we are legally required to keep for tax purposes, but we will delete everything else.
10. Children
This product is intended for professional and adult use. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
11. Changes
If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date above changes and, for significant changes, we will email registered customers. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
